Although one of the best meditation techniques on the planet today is Zazen, or Zen Meditation, not far behind is So Hum Mantra Meditation Technique. Zen Meditation comes from the great school of Zen Buddhism and is the technique of Lord Buddha, and So Hum Mantra Meditation comes from the Hindu schools of meditation and yoga. Both techniques are excellent for daily practice and in this article I will give guide you on how to practice So Hum Mantra Meditation Technique. As the name implies So Hum is a mantra repetition technique, in which you sit still and then focus on the mantra indicated. Ideally you will want to increase this practice to 20 minutes 2 times per day, and finally to being able to sit and meditate for up to 1 hour at a stretch. The benefits of meditation come gently as you continue your sincere practice, so don't focus on that aspect at all. Instead just concern yourself with doing your daily meditation and leave the results in the capable hands of God and Life. You will be surprised at how generous they are. Just trust them and they will guide, inspire and protect you.

6 Effective Relaxation Techniques For Anxiety

If you are scouring the internet for relaxation techniques for anxiety, chances are you are desperate to find anything to relieve the anxiety you feel right now. Been there, done that.Anxiety attacks and panic attacks should serve as a warning sign that your mind, body and spirit are out of wack. You need some oxygen in your brain and body. Here are a few things you can do right now to re-balance your energy and feel whole again:1.) Take a HOT BATH: A toxic mind (full of worry) equals a toxic body. Take a bath and add 1 cup of epsom salt and 1 cup of baking soda added to hot water. This will draw any toxins out of your body through the skin. On a spiritual level, epsom salt and baking soda absorb and clear away any negative energy that may be attached to you. If you do it in the morning, allow yourself some time to take a nap afterward. A hot bath is always excellent for relaxation and stress reduction. Soak for 20-30 with your eyes closed and focus on your breathing.2.) BREATHE: As someone who has suffered horribly from anxiety attacks in the past, I know first hand that it is almost impossible to take a deep breath in the middle of the physical pain of a panic attack. But make this your focus. Breathe in deep through your nose and concentrate on filling the lower lobes of your lungs. Then blow out through your mouth, force the breath out until there is nothing left.3.) Try EFT (the Emotional Freedom Technique): EFT is incredibly simple and super effective. EFT is a series of taps along energy meridians throughout the face and body. Look at anxiety as trapped energy with nowhere to go. EFT breaks up this intense energy allowing you to release it. I have listed a link below in the resource box to watch some instructional EFT videos. Or you can google the phrase "emotional freedom technique" to download the free manual. If you haven't tried EFT yet, learn it and use it. It works.4.) Have yourself a bonafide temper tantrum: (it's best to do this when you are alone;). Throw yourself on your bed, kick your legs, flail around, wiggle, jiggle, punch your pillow, scream into your pillow at the top of your lungs (you get the picture). This is one of THE best relaxation techniques for stress. Sounds crazy, but it's true. You just need to cut loose and let it go. IMPORTANT: stay on the soft bed and avoid contact with anything hard than can physically harm your head, hands, feet or body.5.) Channel your Anxiety into writing: Take some time to examine your fears. What is running through your mind when you have an anxiety attack? What fears trigger the anxiety? Grab a piece of paper and start writing like a maniac. Don't judge what you are writing, just write down every thought running through your head. Take all your worries and frustrations and put them on paper. If you feel like crying, don't hold back. Let it go. A good cry is equally as healthy as a good laugh.6.) Eat some raw green veggies: You need oxygen! Go grab some raw broccoli or chomp down a healthy green leaf spinach salad. Raw, green veggies will increase oxygen to your brain and body. Anxiety attacks are a sure sign you are not taking care of yourself in some way or another. It could be what you are eating. Go get some raw green food and eat it.You may be feeling completely overwhelmed right now and can't see your way out. This is an illusion! Your mind and emotions are creating a threat where none exists. Assure yourself right now that you are going to be ok. Say to yourself "I am safe. I am secure. I am OK."Give yourself a gift today...a day to fully relax. Allow the anxiety attacks you are experiencing to serve as a warning sign. You need a day to rest, eat some good food and mellow out. Go for that walk, take that bath, write down your thoughts, let go of all of those things you "think" you have to do everyday and just BE. You deserve to feel healthy and whole for yourself and your family. If you have tried everything under the sun and still can't find any relief, get yourself to a doctor. There may be some underlying issue causing the anxiety attacks. Get a check up as soon as you can.

Mastering Meditation in the 'Body, Mind, Spirit Integrator'

DAY FOURTHE PATH TO MEDITATION MASTERYThe beginning of the practice started out well this evening. I seemed to find some higher degrees of concentration and felt like I was deeper into the subconscious body as I traced the spirals throughout the brain and down through the face and neck. Finding the path from the lateral side brain to the central core of the brain seemed to come with much more ease this evening. At one point in tracing my path of spirals I did feel a concentrated moment of relaxation in a section of my lower body. I located the release coming from somewhere in the upper leg, as I traveled along the path of attention between a point in the forebrain and the midbrain. I noticed the change and continued on.Another observation from this evening's work consisted of again tuning into Divine energy. These tools are an exploration of uncovering the Mind/Body/Spirit unity of our individual and Universal consciousness, as far as I see it so far. This is why this practice is called the Mind/Body/Spirit Integrator. So far it feels as though these exercises are a part of a methodology aimed at locating and embodying the Spirit. Mind and Body can be experienced, for me, as being much more accessible than the Spirit for various reasons. But the more time I spent within myself this evening the more humbled I felt by the pure power of life itself. To know that I have been given the gifts of a body and mind, and to know that these are both pure examples of the wonder and beauty of the Universe, can more easily enable me to find, feel, and use the purity and wisdom of my Spirit as I train to gather and empower myself to open up to the true gift of life itself; to God, and the hierarchy of all spiritual beings who have come before me, beings who lived their lives full of love, compassion, and a longing for peace. I want to be a part of that great lineage and do what I can to serve the earth before it all just disappears. In the meantime I can allow myself to be always breathing and always present, giving myself the responsibility to training in the health, longevity, and clarity of my body/mind/spirit.LOSING THE ATTENTIONAs the practice went on this evening I did find it extremely difficult to stay in the subconscious body. I did pop out into thought and into the conscious mental modality more so than usual. Overall I feel like I am doing well in my practice and I deserve to treat myself well and to give myself the recognition I deserve. After all, I'm in no rush. This practice takes years and years to develop and expand. Stay connected and let it ride!

Guided Meditation to Release Bad Relationships

What is Guided MeditationGuided meditation is a way of practicing meditation with the assistance of another person. This can be done in person with a group of people where one person facilitates the meditation or one can use a recorded guided meditation. This is a nice way to relax the body, mind and spirit, and is often used by beginners. Use the following guided meditation for clearing out bad relationships. You may want to have someone read it to you, or you can read it ahead of time and then go through the guided meditation on your own.Guided Meditation ProcessLet us begin this guided meditation. Take a few moments to settle into your body by using your breath. Use your breath continuously throughout the guided meditation to help you relax while releasing any attachments that may have been throwing you off center. Now, see yourself as a bright sun without any connections to your family, friends, teachers, or anyone in your life. Clear the energy field around you by focusing on your solar plexus and releasing attachments to people in your life who drain your energy.Visualize the people in your life and one by one, ask yourself, "Does this person support my highest good?" Listen to your body and without judgment have the courage to hear the truth. If your answer is yes, then you will want to continue spending time with this person. If the answer is no, then take some time apart, at least during this guided meditation. Maybe this person will leave your life and maybe not, but changing your perception, will change the nature of your relationship. Use this guided meditation to let go of old scripts; releasing these attachments will clear the path to a more fulfilled life. Now, one by one, release any negative cords you may have with another during this guided meditation. Ask that these cords of energy be dissolved and call back any pieces of yourself that you have given to another. Maybe you let someone have power over you, or you did something for another and short changed yourself. If this feels difficult for you, ask for assistance from your guides or angels to help you release these cords. Send these energetic cords off with love, by visualizing them going away from you, one by time. When you are complete, clear yourself by using the golden rays of the sun to enter your body from the crown, moving into your solar plexus, and all the way down your body, clearing out your entire auric field. As you close this guided meditation, take a few moments of silence and listen to your breath. Breathe for a few moments reflecting back on your experience. Be with yourself and feel the lightness of your being, without other people around you. Give thanks for your willingness to clear yourself throughout this guided meditation. Visualize the warmth of the sun coming into your body and allow it to nurture you, as you feel it penetrate your body. When you feel complete, go about your day, and remember to keep yourself clear of other people's agendas. You do not have to take on their issues; focus on what you want to create for your day. You may want to use this guided meditation several times until you are able to clear the people out of your life, who have attached to you energetically. It is a process that works best over time, so that you can continue to release the people with whom there is not a mutual exchange. Some of them may have very strong energy cords. If so, find the inner strength to release them by using this guided meditation. If possible, identify the pattern of these energetic attachments (caretaker, martyr, controller, etc.) so that you recognize them and do not have to repeat them. Whenever you use this guided meditation, remember to send each of these relationships off with love; as you do not want to have any repercussions come back at you. Compassion with detachment is a great way to live. May all your relationships be blessed.

Guided Meditations for Healing

A guided meditation is an excellent way of meditating. Typically, you sit back and play a CD or MP3 track and follow the instructions on it. Most people find this an easier way to meditate than the traditional methods of clearing the mind and focusing on just one thing.Guided meditations for healing fall into two categories: specific healing meditations, focussed on healing just one thing, and general healing meditations which help your body to stay in good health. If you have a specific issue that needs dealing with, for instance if you are experiencing a great deal of pain somewhere in your body, then you should choose a guided meditation that will help you with that particular problem. Search Amazon or your favorite search engine and you will almost certainly find something to help you.General healing meditations focus on going through your whole body. Oftentimes you will be guided to release the tension that you are experiencing in different parts of your body. The guided meditation will often then go on to ask you to gradually fill your body with a healing white light, maybe even spreading that light outside your body to form a protective shield that will stay with you after the guided meditation has ended.I've found that when I have had cause to use a guided meditation for healing that I finish the meditation feeling much more relaxed than when I started. This alone should help the healing process. A guided healing meditation will help your body to repair itself.

Create Your Haven of Relaxation With Outdoor Furniture

It can seem such a waste to stay indoors when the weather outside is really nice. These are the times when you wished you enhanced your garden so that you and your kids can romp and play while enjoying the cool breeze. Or if the kids prefer to stay indoors, you may just find the quiet time that you need to relax and refresh in the serenity of your patio. In order to enjoy all this you need to design a space that works well with relaxation and entertaining and all you have to do is accentuate it with good, sturdy, weather-resistant outdoor furniture. The first thing you need to ask yourself is where you want your haven of relaxation to be? Will it be attached to your house, like a patio and design it as such? Or would you rather it be away from the house so you really have some peace and quiet. This should work best if you live on the waterfront so you can take advantage of the views and the breeze. Whatever you decide, you can definitely enhance your area by adding a couple of outdoor furniture to complete the setup.Your outdoor haven will definitely need some seating area. You can choose from among chairs, lounges, couches and sofas. Remember though that if you're outdoors you will be exposing your sets to the harsh elements of sun, rain and wind so take care in choosing. When you have chairs, then you will also need tables especially you're also incorporating an outdoor dining area. Most outdoor furniture offer a complete set so you won't have to worry about mixing and matching. When you have outdoor furniture, it may also occur to you to think about how you protect them from the harsh elements without sacrificing the view or the aesthetics of the garden. The answer is to search for the perfect shade structure that goes well with your plan. There are many types from awnings to canopies and pergolas that are attached to the house. If you want them as stand-alone, there are gazebos to add some flair to your garden. Exterior protection like outdoor blinds and PVC blinds also help.Shopping for the materials and building your canopies or pergolas can be time-consuming. If you want to save yourself from the hassle, I suggest that you just get in touch with contractors who are specializing on this type of service so you can benefit from their expertise and experience. That simply means, you'll get your money's worth.

Meditation and the Monkey Mind

Some find the term, "monkey mind", upsetting, derogatory, and insulting. This is a shame, as the point is lost, the ego is involved, and a natural human defense goes up. After all, we are supposed to be the "king of the primates," aren't we?The first time I heard the expression, "monkey mind," in regard to meditation, I thought of Swayambhunath Stupa, in Kathmandu, Nepal. Sometimes, this is named, the "monkey temple," and it made me laugh inside, as monkeys need supervision in human settings. The picture of unsupervised monkeys got into my head, and I was suppressing laughter during a serious conversation.Monkeys can be nuisances, when allowed to roam without some guidance, and it is the same with the untrained mind that runs from topic to topic, without getting much accomplished. So please don't waste time being offended by the term, and try to look at the comical side. When you allow yourself to enjoy life, and try not to take anything too seriously, you can see that monkeys don't have it so bad after all. Very often, the human mind spends too much time defending, worrying, posturing, influencing, fearing, and feeling embarrassed, to enjoy life to its fullest potential. In fact, you are not your mind. You are responsible for your actions, but many things happen in the thought process before you do take action. For example: when you think, images and options are created. As a result of those images, you get a physical feeling somewhere around your heart.Whether the feeling is, good or bad, you process it into action, or treat it as a fleeting thought that passes and may be forgotten. So if you have a fleeting evil thought and it passes - should you waste time feeling guilty about it? The natural safeguard for ethical behavior is your heart or "gut feeling." This is the best indicator of wrong or right.Mankind has the ability to influence the universe, and create different realities, but separating what is sacred, from what is evil, has been a dilemma for thousands of years. The disconnection from your inner self, nature, and God, has led to excessive confusion.Thank God for meditation; it allows you to harness the power of the mind, settle down, and focus, on one subject at a time. If you take the time for a daily meditation practice, your decision-making process will be much more controlled and clear. The end result will be to look at the monkey with much more respect, appreciation, and a bit of humor.

Massage Relaxation Techniques

It is wonderful to achieve relaxation and stress relief by learning these simple massage techniques. A masseur can also vary certain elements, depending on whether the subject wants an intense or calming experience.Increasing the speed and/or pressure will instantly transform a gentle, relaxing session into a deep tissue experience. The quantity of oil used will depend upon the amount of pressure desired. The more oil, the lighter the pressure. Most sessions begin with a greeting to the subject's body. A resting stroke is used, which is exactly what its name implies. One places the hands (usually on the back) for several moments. In addition to establishing a comfortable subject relationship, this stroke also tells the nerves that the masseur is friend, not foe. One can return to the resting stroke as many times as desired. The actual session usually begins and/or ends with light effleurage of the surface only. The practitioner will skim the surface of the skin with four fingers, as though he is brushing away crumbs. The stroke can move in any direction on the body.It is easy to transition into whole hand effleurage, which uses a moderate amount of pressure to stroke with the whole hand. Effleurage can also be applied with the heel of the hand and the forearms.Next, the masseur moves on to a deeper technique, slowly compressing and releasing the large muscles of your thighs, with a slight upward pressure at the end of the stroke. This stroke tends to start out slowly and build in intensity, to condition the muscles. Sometimes the pressure is increased with each stroke. The fourth stroke is kneading, which feels really good on the shoulders. This stroke involves pulling and rolling, just like working dough. It can be performed in a circular motion. The next technique, ischemic compression, is all about applying pressure with the thumb or the fist to the balls of the feet, both sides of the spine, the palms or anywhere the subject needs relief. The main stroke of Swedish massage involves simultaneously pressing and rolling on the body. The practitioner may use the elbows for extra intensity. Pressure should only be applied to the client's comfort level, and not beyond. When an energizing effect is desired, the masseur will finish up the session with tapotement. This stroke is performed by rhythmically rapping with the sides of the hands. For a more relaxing conclusion, have the masseur complete the massage by slowly repeating the effleurage stroke. The subject should feel substantially refreshed after this experience.Massage Techniques For Quick RelaxationSitting back, relaxing and just letting go of stress is a benefit of becoming proficient with a few easy massage moves. A masseuse can add variety by tailoring the experience to be either deep or grounding.Maximizing the rapidity or pressure can quickly change a mild, calming experience into a more intense type of bodywork. The amount of lubricant can change according to the end result that the client wants. Additional lubricant yields a milder session. The masseuse should first introduce touch gradually, by resting the hands on the client's back. It only takes an instant for the client to become familiar with a stranger's presence. The resting stroke also informs the subject's nerve endings that it is safe to relax. A masseuse can repeat this technique throughout the massage. The main part of the rub can start and finish with smooth rhythmic stroking exclusively on the skin. The masseuse may brush the body with all fingers except the thumb, just like removing lint from a suit. This technique can progress across the body in a multitude of ways.Next, the masseuse changes the tempo by rhythmically stroking with the entire hand. This technique employs more force than four-finger effleurage. The masseuse may also use the palms and the arms to perform this stroke.A professional masseuse can intensify the therapy by deepening her strokes, languidly pressing and letting go of the broad muscle groups in the upper leg. She finishes this portion of the therapy by pushing up on the muscle, which is stretched and relaxed. Another approach is to press harder each time she performs the motion.A fourth technique is compressing and turning the muscles, and works especially well on the upper arms. Just check out a kitten trying to get its mothers milk, and it is easy to understand what this motion entails. One can also press on a particular spot with one finger or a tightened hand to the bottoms of the feet, muscles near the mid-back, the insides of the hands or on any sore spot.If the masseuse is performing Esalen style techniques, she may do a stroke that compresses and rotates. She may apply her fists to increase the pressure. To increase circulation, a masseuse will apply percussive strokes on the larger muscle groups. She does this by tapping on them. If the client wants to end on a calmer note, the masseuse can perform some additional effleurage. If all of the techniques were employed properly, the client will feel ready to resume their day with greater energy after a massage.Seven Massage Strokes For Instant Stress ReliefIt is easy to master these seven strokes that can reduce stress and facilitate the patron's well-being. Massage therapists are capable of fine tuning their approach for either deeper therapeutic or more nurturing results.Speeding up or slowing down and/or using extra compression can measurably transform the recipient's perception of the session, from one of feeling that their needs are ignored, to feeling that they derived significant benefits. Most practitioners can provide exactly the experience that an individual might seek. Add more lotion for a softer, gentler rub.First the therapist will gently touch the back, just to say to the patron's body: "hi, I'm about to start the session." This immediately calms and reassures the recipient both somatically and mentally. Use of the resting stroke can occur numerous times during the session. Now comes the main event. Just the skin's surface is rubbed with an open and relaxed hand. This technique is performed lightly and fluidly on as much of the body surface as desired. The therapist varies the rhythm by transitioning into a regularly cadenced rubbing motion. Generally, a practitioner will press harder as the session progresses, unless the recipient indicates otherwise. Therapists use an open hand or the forearms to execute this maneuver.Next, stronger strokes are applied, unhurriedly applying pressure to major tendons in the legs. This movement draws to a close with an upstroke applied to the tissues, alternately extending and allowing the muscles to rest. Gradually intensifying the stroke also works well.Pressing down and rotating the fibrous tissue comes next in the sequence, which is a good move to use on the appendages. This method of working the body is similar to milking a cow. Alternatively, the therapist will compress a specific area (such as the foot, the spine or the hands) with a single digit or fist. Any aches and pains will respond well to this type of attention.Swedish manipulation involves squeezing and turning the body's fibrous tissue. Using a clenched hand will allow the practitioner to apply more force to the desired area.Drumming energizes and enhances the flow of blood to any part of the body, especially extensive muscle masses. Drumming is performed with the edges of the hands. For a more restful end to the session, more light and fluid strokes can be used. When the massage is complete, the recipient will be infused with vitality and well-being

Meditation - Quiet Your Mind, Get Abundance in Your Life

Pascal said "All of humanity's problems stem from man's in ability to sit quietly in a room alone". Some people may think this is too simplistic, but I certainly agree that a quiet mind is the foundation or garden of inner peace. And inner peace is something quite attainable, converts into outer peace. Starting with your surroundings and radiating outwardly. There are many techniques for quieting the mind, some can even be overwhelming at first, remember we think over 50,000 thoughts a day, techniques such as reflection, deep breathing, visualization and contemplation. The one I use regularly and that is most universally accepted is meditation. In just five or ten minutes a day, you can train your mind to be quiet and still.Once you have realized this stillness it can be utilized in your daily life. By making you less reactive and irritable, your awareness is more responsive, giving you greater perspective to see and feel things as little occurrences instead of crisis. This is were the pursuit of abundance is enhanced.Meditation will teach you how wonderful it is to be calm by giving you the gift of total relaxation. In short, it teaches you to be at peace. There are a great many variations and different forms of meditation, (subjects for up coming articles of mine)Simply, mediation requires you to empty your mind. Meditation can be done alone in a quiet environment, your surroundings keep distraction minimized. All you have to do is sit down comfortably, close your eyes and focus or pay attention to your breathing, in and out, in and out. Now as thoughts enter your mind you gently think " that's nice", and allow then to go, bringing your focus back to your breath. Continue to do this over and over again. You will train yourself, over time, to keep your focus on your breath as you release your thoughts. This is not as easy as it sounds, remember those 50,000 thoughts a day, thoughts will be sneaking when one is released to try to full the stillness.Rare is the beginner who is able to focus full attention for more then a few seconds. The gift is to become an effective mediator by being gentle on yourself and to be very consistent. Don't be discouraged or doubtful either. You see a few minutes each day will give you abundant benefits, over time.I use variations of traditional meditation to make meditation more fun and more effective for me, you can learn these too, if you like.I don't know very many people that I would consider to be at peace with themselves and their lives, and that are not successful in their lives, who have not spent at least a little time every day in meditation.

3 Simplest Meditation Techniques - Mindfulness, Breathing & Guided Meditation

Meditation has been known to relieve stress and tension and promote well-being. It relaxes your body and mind and heals the soul. It rids the mind of conflict and soothes the spirit. Regular meditation helps one cope with everyday pressures without falling victim to them. Meditation can be practiced in several ways. There are many techniques that help you get in touch with your inner self and bring relaxation to mind and body. Some of the simplest meditation techniques are mindfulness meditation, breathing and guided meditation.Mindfulness MeditationMindfulness implies awareness. So, mindfulness meditation aims at being aware of one's inner self and the surroundings while touching on a higher level of consciousness. With mindfulness meditation all thoughts, feelings and emotions are acknowledged without making an attempt to suppress them. You have to play the part of a detached observer. In other words, you have to live in the moment without getting involved in it. There are several ways to practice mindfulness meditation. Most of them involve focusing on a certain object or a process. This could be focusing on your breath, performing a recurring exercise or simply chanting a mantra. There's no specific posture that you need to take while doing mindfulness meditation. You can sit comfortably but you have to make sure that your back is upright in order to remain relaxed and alert. This is a very simple form of meditation and can be practiced at any time since all you have to do is sit and do nothing.Breathing MeditationBreathing meditation aims to clear the mind of distractions and make it calm and peaceful. Select a serene place to meditate and sit comfortably. You can take up any posture as long as you keep your back erect. Sit with your eyes slightly closed and focus on your breathing. Breathe through your nostrils and gain an awareness of how each breath enters and leaves your nostrils. Concentrate on this alone and make an effort to stop your thoughts from wandering. If your mind strays from the breathing process, bring it back to the task at hand. Do this as many times as is necessary. With constant practice, this will bring a sense of calm and peace to the mind. Even though breathing meditation is often considered as a prelude to other forms of meditation, it is a very effective technique to experience peace and contentment from within.Guided MeditationThe deeper the level of meditation, the greater healing it brings to mind and body. Guided meditation aims at taking you to a whole new level altogether. Either your guru can guide you and bring you to this new state or you can use an audio tape to achieve a similar effect. You have to keep your mind free of all thoughts and focus only on the guiding voice in question. Here, you touch your inner self and unleash old resentments and emotions to create peace and harmony within. There are many audio tapes available over the internet that can be used for this kind of meditation. All you have to do is unwind and follow the instructions. Guided meditation is used to instill feelings of self-confidence and release feelings of insecurity. All these three meditation techniques have a common purpose: To bring peace and reduce the conflict within yourself. Regular meditation will enrich your life and make way for a healthy and wholesome lifestyle.

How Can Christian Meditation Renew My Mind and Renew My Life

Christian meditation is based on the divine, living, and powerful Word of God. Does it have the ability to renew our minds and lives? Yes. Absolutely! How do we know? God says so."Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God." -- Romans 12:2Renew Your Mind With Biblical MeditationWhen we meditate on the Word of God we release the thoughts of our mind and put on the mind of Christ. (Philippians 2:5) There is an exchange for the world's way of thinking with a renewing of our mind with God's way of thinking.More good news: As believers we have the Holy Spirit living within us as a powerful aid to meditation. Jesus told us that the Father will send the Holy Spirit in His name to teach us all things and bring to remembrance all things Jesus said. (John 14:26)There is great power in affirming the revealed truths of God's Word. Orison Swett Marden once said, "An affirmation is a statement of Truth consciously used so as to become the directing power of Life's expression."Renew Your Life With Biblical MeditationThe answer to renewing our life is found in the Word of God that we meditate and renew our mind with day and night. Through the power of the Word of God and by meditation on it, we align ourselves with God's thoughts, God's provision, and God's ways. God's will is found in His Word. There is no greater and exciting place to be than in the center of God's will.Matthew 12:34 declares, "Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks."With meditation we can challenge every thought that resists the knowledge of God by speaking the Word of God. Meditating, confessing, and acting on His ways holds life transforming power. In Joshua 1:8 he advises: "Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful."I could go on and on. The point is: As we renew our mind through meditation on the Word of God, we'll soon find that the life transforming power of His Word renews our life! Are you ready to let the divine, living, and powerful Word of God renew your mind and life through Christian meditation?

La Tania - Relaxation On and Off the Ski Slopes

Skiing in France is a delightful way to spend a holiday. The French Alps provide a beautiful and challenging environment for skiers of all levels. Wondering where to stay? If you are looking for ski chalets, La Tania offers some of the best available in the world's largest skiable region - Les Trois Vallées (The Three Valleys).Les Trois Vallées is a skier's paradise. You can find everything to make your holiday a success and it's all within your reach. Drive, park, and then ski all day long! Or, you can stay within the boundaries of any of the area's ski resorts. These include Van Thoren, Les Menuires, Méribel, Courchevel and Saint Marten de Belleville. Stay in any one of the charming chalets La Tania offers within its boundaries and use it as a base from which to enjoy everything else throughout the region.Enjoy the Quiet
For those used to the hustle and bustle of such resorts as Courchevel, La Tania offers a welcome change. The small village is a source of delight both on and off the slopes. You can see it all from the windows of any of the many picturesque, typical, chocolate box-style chalets - La Tania stretching out before you.The decision to build the resort originally had a distinctly practical purpose - to provide for the athletes and sporting events of the 1992 Olympic Games. Today, the village and resort continues to ensure visitors enjoy their stay amidst beautiful and quiet surroundings. As pine trees surround many of the chalets, La Tania has an untouched look and feel about it. The ambience of a small village prevails, and this includes the nightlife. While you can find live music at Le Ski Lodge, and can socialise at the Olympique and other local bars and restaurants, après ski proceeds at a quieter pace. If you want to listen to loud music and be part of large, noisy, crowds, simply ski, drive or shuttle on over to Courchevel or Méribel.Peaceful Mountain RunsThe same peace pervades the mountains around the resort's chalets. La Tania is blessed with quiet pistes and trees line the runs to and from the resort. This makes it a wonderful ski-to-door resort. The trees also manage to mute the outside sounds and provide privacy for those skiing to and from their chalets. This does not mean, however, that the runs are less challenging or the slopes less difficult. The resort sits at a height of 1400 m (4593 ft). Its highest elevation for skiing is 3200 m (10,499 ft). You can ski down a vertical of some 1800 m or 5906 ft. With 600 km of ski piste and 200 ski lifts, you can hardly call the resort minor league. Nor does it lack good powder. Indeed, La Tania lies within the Dou des Lanches. This has some of the very best powder in the entire Trois Vallées.But if this does not satisfy your adventurous streak, you can easily ski off to the other resorts. If you purchase a pass you can ski at any and/or all of the other resorts. You can enjoy the challenges of their slopes, slalom down their runs and return home to the comforts provided by your cosy chalets. La Tania is small, quiet and ideally located no matter what your preference. It does, however, provide its guests with a chance to relax and enjoy their skiing pleasures far from the madding crowd.

Guided Meditation Gateway to Improved Health and Psychological Strength

If you are finding that your daily life and the stresses and anxiety that comes with it are clouding your perspective and interfering with the peace of mind you're looking for, then guided meditation might be a good option for you. Meditation can help you to gain the benefit of perspective. You see, guided meditation is an excellent way to self induce a level of peace, tranquility and inner strength. But, what if you don't understand the process of meditation. In this case a method of meditation known as guided mediation can be an excellent way to learn and practice meditation properly. What guided mediation actually offers is a form of meditation where you are literally guided by a persons voice in a step by step manner as to how to meditate. This method of meditation can be very helpful to those who have very little understanding about how meditation works and how one goes about meditating. This form of meditation works well with either a CD or in some cases a DVD. The guide will typically use music and vivid imagery to assist you in achieving a comfortable and deep state of relaxation, where the meditative process actually begins.Achieving a state of meditation can vary somewhat, with secular guides using progressive relaxation and breathing techniques and Buddhist and other religions focusing on prayers, or mantras (repeated sound, words or syllables) thought to enhance spirituality. Likewise, a guide will use meditation enhancement techniques based on their orientation. For the average person, mediation is often sought after for relief of stress and to develop personal mastery and self-knowledge, whereas the religious practitioner is often seeking a higher spiritual connection and truth. With the assistance of guided meditation a person is able to more quickly focus on meeting their particular meditation needs. The bottom line is that guided mediation can be a very helpful and important aspect of a persons life. Achieving stress reduction is important to maintaining and improving your overall health, both physical and mental. The practice of guided meditation can also lead to other important goals for the individual, such as quitting smoking and eliminating negative habits or patterns of self destructive behavior.Self knowledge and the deeper understanding achieved through guided meditation can also lead to much success in life, as well as a greater sense of spiritual connection. Knowing yourself well and taking heed of your personal values and strengths can definitely lead you to make better choices and achieve improved results.

Accurate Psychic Reading Tips 3 Things to Keep In Mind When Meditating

Meditation is a technique of relaxation which is essential in someone's hopes for getting accurate psychic readings. Your pick of medium to provide you with a reading won't really be a factor (provided you've already made sure he or she is known to provide clients with accurate psychic readings, of course) so long as you've done a bit of meditating prior to the session. Many individuals who are constantly on the lookout for accurate psychic readings which can assist them in their search for answers to the several troubles they encounter on a day to day basis or even just some type of spiritual enlightenment can truly benefit from engaging in this activity. After all, according to expert readers, meditation is the first step to self reflection, which means you are getting to know yourself a lot better. You may also discover if you happen to possess psychic abilities this way, most specifically an active third eye, which would then allow you to establish communication with the dead, or other spiritual entities. For getting or learning how to give accurate psychic readings, it is best that you keep in mind the following things for meditation:Good Energy ConnectionsA good energy connection must establish for the reader to actually communicate with otherworldly beings. You may have some semblance of this ability, and in order to develop it, concentration is key. You have to select an object which you can focus on without being distracted so easily. For instance, you can think about your most favorite item or even just a word which you can closely associate yourself with, such as "happiness" or "love", among other examples.Concentration Is KeyFor accurate psychic readings, make sure that continue concentrating on that one thing. When you do so, you get to undergo a certain state of relaxation which also contributes to a more profound comprehension of the many things which plague your mind as well as those of others. The State Of RaptureThe last thing you need to bear in mind is that if by per chance that you can sense energy connections or see people's auric energies exuding and want to develop this skill further, you must reach a state of rapture. In order to achieve that, you must free your mind of the worries which constantly haunt you and breathe them out, pretending that you're exhaling all those problems of yours. If you want to give accurate psychic readings, reaching this state will definitely lead to you fully opening your third eye.

Guided Meditation - The 3 Dangers of Someone Else's Voice

Guided meditation is all the rage these days, as even a few minutes on Google will reveal. Apparently, a lot of people want to try meditation and think they'll do better if someone else holds their hand. Perhaps because I'm a rather self-contained and self-reliant introvert, I find this rather sad. But it's worse than that. Leaning on someone else's voice like a mental crutch is lazy and, like most shortcuts, doesn't yield the quality of results that we're looking for.The Danger of DependencyObviously, some people take to meditation more easily than others. If you really have trouble exploring your inner landscape of beliefs, emotions, and images (to say nothing of the many other "languages" of the soul, some of which are almost impossibly subtle and irreducible to the blunt instrument of words), then you might need someone else's help. If you can afford it, a professional meditation counselor will be far more responsive to your particular needs than a pre-recorded, anonymous voice on a CD. If all you need to do is relax, rather than uncover inner conflicts, then a guided meditation CD or MP3 - very commonly available - may suffice. If the guide conjures up images of swaying palms on a Tahitian beach, you might enjoy that after a lousy day at work. But, in all of these cases, you are becoming somewhat dependent on the other person's guidance. At some point, it is to be hoped, you will want to take the training wheels off your bike and let go of daddy's hand. The Danger of ControlThe real objective of meditation is an altered state of consciousness. Exploring your belief system at someone else's suggestion is a legitimate mental exercise, but it's not really meditation. Similarly, relaxing at the end of the day is definitely a good idea, but only barely qualifies as meditation if you succeed in entering an Alpha state (characterized by generally slower brainwaves). If you're serious about going within, that stranger's voice is going to keep dragging you back to the constant chatter of Beta, the very thing we're trying to escape. Guided meditation limits your reach. If your purpose in accessing those deeper states is to reprogram yourself on a subconscious level, then guided meditation is a losing proposition for other reasons, too. Apart from the impediment presented by the annoying voice, there is a question of control. Do you want to listen to affirmations chosen by someone else, and let them effectively hypnotize you? Even if it works, are you comfortable with the thought that all the other listeners of that CD are being "programmed" in the same way? I could never be. But there is an even larger issue here. The Danger of ImpotenceIf you are going to be truly effective in changing yourself and, potentially, your outer reality as well, then you cannot afford to cut yourself off from the wellspring of human creativity that lies within you. Any manufactured "product" which externalizes some aspect of the meditation process must be viewed with skepticism. (There is one exception to this, of which more in a moment.) When someone else is saying the words for you, you are a passive listener, not an active creator. You must not only choose the words that mean the most to you, you must be the one to say them. The process of giving mental form to those self-selected words activates the brain in a completely different way and literally gives those words life and power - far more power than anyone else's words could ever have. Creating a better you - creating a better life - is your job, and you have already been equipped with the potentials to effect it. It is your voice that counts.

Meditation and Mind-Wandering

I've been meditating off and on since I was about 13, and I have read tons and practiced ALL SORTS of different kinds of meditations. My conclusion: there is no one right way or wrong way to meditate. It can be helpful to have different approaches to use at different times, depending on the intention or needs at the time of meditating. It is nice to have several different approaches in your meditation tool belt so that you can choose what feels right for you in the moment. The most important aspect of meditation is to go easy. Even scientific meditation studies show that the particulars of how you meditate are not NEARLY as important as the "going easy" part. When your mind wanders, and it will... (It is very important to remember that everyone's mind wanders some when they meditate. Knowing that it will wander really helps with the going easy.)So, when it wanders, use whatever works for YOU in THIS MOMENT to let go and go with the flow and empty your mind -- the possibilities are infinite. Here are just a few ways to re-focus for you to consider:
Your breath -- focus on the sensations of your breathing, notice every physical sensation associated with your breathing, every minute detail of it OR focus on a relaxed pattern of breathing, an IN-2-3, OUT-2-3 sort of thing, OR focus on the space between the in-breath and the out-breath, OR ... there are HUNDREDS of things you can do with your breath.

Sound -- focus on a repetitive music or a recorded mantra, a mechanical droning or repetitive sound, the sound of the wind in the trees, the sound of the waves in the sea...

Mantra -- focus on a word or phrase you can repeat either aloud or in your mind (best if this word is neutral to you).

Visual -- a flower (my favorite), the ocean, a stone, a leaf, the flame of a candle, a fire in the fireplace, really anything (again either with your eyes or in your mind's eye).

Listen -- to a guided meditation and follow in your imagination.

Walk -- with intention and attention to every single sensation and sound of the NOW of the experience. Just keep re-turning your thoughts to your chosen focus with the intention of meditating.
And, finally, I close with one of my all-time favorite mind calming statements "I am here; all is well."

Meditation - Easy Ways to Clear Your Mind Traffic

How to Clear your mind traffic. When you first begin to meditate, you may have so much mind traffic that you think it impossible to relax, let alone meditate. As soon as you close your eyes to let your body relax, your mind will start to file away all of the thoughts of the day. It's a bit like a computer asking you to save your files. There are three main types of thoughts that flash across your mind as they are filed away. They consist of the day's activities, tasks not yet completed (your to do list) and any conflicts that have not been resolved. Let's look at these thoughts in more detail.1. The day's activities. These thoughts are random and are a collection of memories to do with day to day activities. When you meditate, these thoughts flash across your mind rapidly. They are neither overly positive or negative, you may picture the sunrise you saw this morning, or remember the smile on your child's face. These thoughts get filed away easily.2. Tasks not yet completed. These are thoughts that remind you of tasks you still need to do. They cause an emotional reaction, and often distract people when they meditate because they think, "I have to remember that".When these thoughts come up in meditation, have a pen and paper handy and write them down, so that you know you will remember that thought. Your mind will then file that thought away and you can go into a deeper meditation without worrying about it. At the completion of your meditation, you can then transfer this list into your diary to complete the tasks. This exercise of writing down your 'to do' list is also effective for people who find it difficult to sleep at night when they have a lot on their mind. By writing down your tasks, you will sleep more soundly.3. Conflicts not yet resolved. When a conflict has not been resolved and weighs heavily on your mind, the conflict should be written down. A decision can be made later, about how to constructively resolve the conflict or concern. Perhaps talking to a friend, a teacher, parent or counsellor can help resolve the problem. Thoughts in this category can cause stress, which left unresolved can cause your body to experience unpleasant physical and emotional symptoms. As well as your mind filing away your mind traffic, you will notice that your body begins to relax as your thoughts slow down. You will find that your breathing changes, it will become slower, deeper and more relaxed. Your heart rate starts to slow down and your blood pressure will also begin to fall slightly. As you clear your mind traffic, you'll notice that the time between thoughts becomes longer. One of the processes that takes place in the body is the movement from the higher brain waves of Beta to the slower brain waves of Alpha. In Alpha your mind receives a profound rest. Alpha brain waves are slower and more calming than Beta. We move into Alpha brain waves quite naturally each night, prior to falling asleep. The practice of meditation allows you to practice moving into alpha brain waves on a more regular basis. This means that the body and mind are getting more time to rest. Every time you practice meditation the mind goes into alpha brain waves and starts to relax deeply and process your mind traffic. With regular practice of meditation, you will find that you have less mind traffic, and will be able to move into a meditative state more easily. The practice of meditation is especially useful for anyone who studies, by moving into Alpha brain waves prior to studying, you firstly clear out your mind traffic and scattered thoughts, which helps you keep your mind focused on your work. Work studied in Alpha makes memory recall faster. Most of your waking state is experienced in Beta brain waves. These are the higher brain waves that you use when you are being analytical, reasoning or judging how you feel about things. The higher the brain waves, the more difficult it is to concentrate and remember. The higher the brain waves the more you experience stress, anxiety and fear. Beta is the area of restless, churning thoughts. You may know the feeling prior to sleep when you toss and turn and find it difficult to switch off restless thoughts. Prior to sleep, you need to make the transition from Beta brain waves (faster) to Alpha brain waves (slower) for sleep to occur. If you are going over your mistakes, failures, etc, it is difficult for sleep to occur and when it does, sleep is restless. Most novices to meditation tell me that they find it hard to get beyond their thoughts in the early stage of meditation, because they experience so much mind traffic. I tell them to welcome their thoughts, because they are being filed away. When you begin your meditation, you can use the first ten minutes to write down your mind traffic onto a sheet of paper. Mind traffic usually comes through during the first five to ten minutes, if you write down those thoughts, just by opening your eyes, writing the thought, and then closing your eyes again, you will start to let go of the thoughts and drift into an even deeper meditation.Sometimes people tell me that they don't want to break their concentration, by opening their eyes, if you do this gently, without moving too much, you will stay in a meditative state. It is easier to meditate when you clear your mind traffic by writing it on paper. You will also sleep more soundly if you clear your mind traffic just prior to sleeping. The next time you meditate, do the Mind Traffic Exercise first to clear your thoughts so that you can move into a much deeper state of meditation.

Embracing the Healing Art of Focused Relaxation

Focused relaxation is a valuable aspect of total wellness; however a majority of people are not sure what that is. It may be due to the large number of definitions and explanations associated with the term or the inability to distinguish fact from fiction. Realizing that, "the public may often be confused by the rapid developments in behavioral medicine and what can be outlandish claims for treatments from less-than-scrupulous practitioners," a group called simply "the institute" was formed in 1983 as a middle ground between the public and health professionals to offer responsible advice, distinguishing between the proven and the hyped, as well as the efficacy of relaxation techniques.Focused relaxation has two main components: mental and physical. Physically, the muscles throughout the body begin to release tension. Mentally, the mind is quieted and focused inwardly on the body and breath at that very moment, a state of mind is then created in which stressors, negative self-talk, and other worries can be eliminated from the mind. When both body and mind are purposefully relaxed, it is possible to enter a deeply restorative state. The term "Focused Relaxation" is actually a wide umbrella that covers numerous modalities, such as, but not limited to yoga, tai chi, meditation, prayer, visualization, guided imagery, biofeedback, progressive muscle relaxation, deep breathing exercises, and Qi Gong. Many consider relaxation as simply sitting still or not having to do anything taxing or exerting. While that is a form of relaxation, it does not produce the healing health benefits of the more purposeful and focused exercises. In a report by Paul Lehrer of Rutgers Medical School in the Journal of Psychosomatic Research he asserts, ''Just feeling relaxed may not be the same as being truly relaxed physically.'' The act of systematically focusing attention and awareness is a process that decreases the wear and tear on the mind and body from the challenges and stressors of daily life. Many of the techniques practiced today only mildly resemble their original forms. As with many Western practices, people adapt the principles to suit their own sensibilities. Author and researcher Mark Singleton asserts: "As elements of relaxation therapy were assimilated into the lexicon of Modern Yoga, they helped to create a new conceptualization of the function and goal of yoga itself, both in India and the West."Practices that combine mental awareness with movement, such as Yoga and Tai chi are often described as "meditation in motion" and perhaps more accurately "medication in motion." The slow rhythmic movements stand in stark contrast to the fast paced Western lifestyle of busyness. These types of activities force the mind to focus on breathing and being fully immersed in the current moment. It allows the participant to turn down the constant mental chatter and mentally relax while physically engaging in these slow movements. Many people find it increasingly difficult to slow down and focus within. This simple fact makes it a worthy practice. Learning to harness one's personal energy and to calmly focus within is a valuable skill for managing hectic times of stress, which is recognized as one of the leading causes of preventable illness. Fostering an ability to slow breathing and reduce the heart rate through practiced relaxation techniques can be extremely restorative, allowing one to think more clearly and calmly.Author and renowned speaker Brian Tracy discusses the results of over activity: "Most people are so busy rushing back and forth that they seldom take the time to think seriously about who they are and why they are doing what they are doing. They engage in frantic activity, instead of thoughtful analysis." In his summation he points out an all too important lesson, "[People] get so busy climbing the ladder of success that they lose sight of the fact that the ladder may be leaning against the wrong building."Through exploring and embracing the benefits of focused relaxation therapy one can begin to experience personal clarity and reduce potential illness from stress related conditions. It is all part of balancing the exertion and recovery cycle. Most wellness practitioners only discuss the exertion portion, however when properly balanced, it is the recovery portion that allows the exertion to be considered and carried out. In the weeks to come I will explore this concept further, so you may decide for yourself if this could be the missing part of your wellness routine. This is Part II of a five-part series on the benefits of Focused Relaxation.

About Guided Meditation Techniques

Usually, the mind is an obstacle to meditation. There are various techniques to render it speechless or methods of observing the constant stream of noise it likes to generate. Sometimes the mind seems like an entity all to itself, an enemy that dwells within one's own skin. However, let us not forget that the true purpose of the mind is to serve its master, the true self. The mind is a tool that can be used to achieve many tasks. The mind may even be used as a pathway for meditation. One of the many meditation methods is called guided meditation. Guided meditation sessions often take place at the end of a Yoga class. The power of the human imagination is vast and harnessing this powerful force is what makes guided meditation so effective. The individual envisions predefined scenarios as instructed and these mental images produce a deeply meditative state. Since the eyes are closed, the prescribed visualizations must either be recalled from memory or heard either through an instructor or a recording; reading is not an option. One may record themselves beforehand and listen to the recording or they may ask a friend to recite it for them since some people find the sound of their own voice distracting during guided meditation. Whatever method works best for an individual is the best path for them.It has been stated that the non-conscious mind cannot distinguish between fact, or fiction; everything it is presented with is accepted as fact. This is why we are afraid during a scary movie or why we cry at the end of a tearjerker. The conscious mind knows that a movie is not real, but to the non-conscious mind it is. For that level of the mind, it did happen. The same can be said for our imaginings. The things we dream up in the realms of the mind often have a physiological impact on our systems. When we worry our the heart rate goes up, the palms start to sweat, and the breathing grows shallow, fast, or both. This powerful aspect of the mind is typically used passively and never intentionally, which is a great waste of potential. With guided meditation, the non-conscious mind becomes a great tool for profound inner transformation. Before entering the guided meditation, comfort should be considered. Wear loose fitting clothing and get the body into a position that will remain comfortable for the long haul. Get settled in the chosen position and then wait a minute or two. If further shifting around is needed, do so now. Once the body is taken care of, the meditation can begin. There are a variety of different guided meditations out there to choose from and each has its own benefits. Pure light guided meditation involves vividly imagining light surrounding and being absorbed into the body; this is cleansing and purifying as it dissolves all impurities and emotional hurts found within. Another example of a guided meditation is imagining becoming one with a tree, right down to the roughness of the bark and the feel of the earth around the roots of the tree. This is a grounding meditation. There are a myriad of guided meditation scenarios to choose from, each yielding different effects. The key is to choose what you as an individual are drawn to based on your own unique needs.© Copyright 2011 - Aura Wellness Center - Publications Division

Guided Meditation - Should You Try It

Guided meditation has become extremely popular in self-help circles, with seemingly every website dedicated to meditation trying to sell us CDs or even expensive one-on-one sessions with a personal meditation guide. I have never been drawn to this activity, and in this article I will explain the reasons for my reservations. If you are serious about attaining altered states of consciousness through meditation, you won't fall for the hype either. Is Guided Meditation Really Meditation?Meditation is - or should be - the ultimate individual pursuit, in which the practitioner explores the deepest regions of the self. This is not a team sport, and it is not a social activity. If you want to meditate in the presence of other friends or like-minded people, perhaps in the hope of experiencing a deeper connection with them, or with a view to discussing your experiences afterward, that's fine. But the actual activity itself is one you must undertake alone. The journey is uniquely yours.Guided meditation, by its very nature, converts this personal activity into an interpersonal activity, and gives unacceptable control and direction to the meditation guide. The voice of the guide may ask you questions to encourage analysis of troubling emotional issues, as in a psychotherapy session. It may attempt to lead you to certain inner states by suggesting imagery, as if you can't relax by yourself. Or, in its worst possible form, it may actually seek to reprogram your belief system with selected affirmations, in a manner akin to hypnotherapy. These may all be interesting activities, and may even be worth pursuing for some people who can't seem to gain traction working alone. But to the extent that they transfer control and direction to someone else, they cannot be considered proper meditation. An Impediment to Real ProgressBeyond definitional issues, there is a fundamental practical problem with guided meditation. If your goal is to explore genuinely altered states, such as the fascinating Alpha-Theta boundary, you have little chance of getting there with a "guided" meditation. The voice of the guide - especially if you don't like that voice or what it says - is a constant interruption of and distraction from your descent to deeper levels. I certainly think it is possible, if you listen with your eyes closed, to attain an Alpha state while using these products. And that might be enough for you - especially if your main goal is simply to relax at the end of a tough day and ward off the manifold evils associated with stress and an excess of Beta waves. But I doubt very much that you'll be able to go any deeper than that, unless you are fortunate enough to find a recording that includes excellent brainwave entrainment audio and a voice that - by chance - doesn't grate on your nerves.

5 Meditation Tips to Clear the Mind That Work

Most people have heard of meditation and its highly publicized benefits, many of which were backed up in the Journal of Neuroscience earlier this year. But most people seem to struggle with the subject. I believe it is about condensing down the vast material into a few simple principles.Further to researching and practicing meditation techniques for the last 15 years, I have found a few ways that really help me to achieve a clear and peaceful mind during the day, improve my concentration, my productivity and ultimately help me achieve my goals in life. These are simple techniques that I would like to share with you. Before we do though, I believe it is important to ask yourself two questions. What is it I am trying to achieve, and do I really want it? For me, I want mental clarity during my working day, which feels like it relaxes me and buys me mental time. I also want to sleep well! These goals are very important as my life is much poorer without them. Therefore, I am prepared to put the effort in to make them happen. Without a few goals and some starting motivation, it can be extremely hard to succeed. So to my 5 tips:* Find a little time to stop! Anyone can find 5 minutes daily, and that is all it takes each day to see improvements. We spend our whole lives running around, mentally and physically. If we would only sit still quietly for 5 minutes, we would help stop this overwhelming feeling from happening. I find doing this in the morning before work, or actually when I am right in the thick of things at work, is of major benefit. Be tough with yourself, no more excuses!* Once you have your 5 minutes, start by paying attention to something small and detailed. This really works for me. This can be anything; sights, sounds, the thoughts running through your head, or smells. This becomes like hypnosis, so if you see a tree nearby for instance, focus on the smallest crack or branch. There is also my personal favourite, focusing on a part of your body, like your feet, or calves, or shoulders. The shoulders in particular seem to start to relax.* Focus intermittently on your breathing. Make slow, stomach breaths, hold, and exhale slowly, for 30 seconds. You will find yourself relaxing further, particularly in between breaths. In fact it is the Ayurvedics that believe the magic happens in between the breaths.* Practice! If you have read or heard of 2 recent books, Bounce by Matthew Syed, and The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle, you will know where I am coming from. They have conducted very interesting research into the myth of talent, and have by and large concluded that "talented" individuals are the product of high quality practice from a very early age. We live in culture that values "talent", and as a result many of us give up too easily if it is not happening how we want it to, because we don't have what it takes. Nothing could be further from the truth. You will not achieve if you do not practice consistently; it is as simple as that. 5 minutes a day minimum, regularly, is all it takes to see some substantial changes.* Research and evaluate different types of meditation techniques. There are a number of techniques that bring you to the same point. A few to consider are present moment awareness, hypnosis sessions on download, brain entrainment sessions on download, and a good old fashioned walk with mindfulness. All can be beneficial for a clear mind, as well as a number of other goals that you may have.So give it a go, with any meditation technique that grabs you and your soon-to-be-clear mind! Just make sure you know what you want, and you want it enough!

Guided Meditation Using Binaural Beats

The use of binaural beats in guided meditation is a relatively recent adaptation of the meditation art. Binaural beats have been shown to have both objective and subjective effects upon states of consciousness. By targeting specific brainwave frequencies, the technology is used to create varying, predictable states of consciousness. This enhances the ability of individuals to experience a deep meditation state where the brain adapts to new perspectives and achieves propitious, altered states of consciousness which provide a wide range of beneficial effects.Binaural beats are created by using two coherent sounds at slightly different frequencies which are presented one to each ear. The brain detects the phase differences between the sounds and hears a binaural beat. Normally, when a phase difference in sounds is detected, it provides directional information to the individual. That is, the sound comes from that direction. However, when this phased difference is presented via stereo headphones, the brain integrates the two sounds and perceives a third sound, the binaural beat.Binaural beats for guided meditation are used at low frequencies of less than 30 Hz, which is the characteristic frequency of brainwaves. Listening to these beats at different frequencies produces specific alterations to consciousness directly related to the frequency used. In general, beats between 1 to 4 Hz, which correspond with the delta state, replicate the high amplitude brainwaves which are characteristic of slow wave sleep. When the subject is tired, these frequencies tend to make him fall asleep. With a frequency of 4 to 8 Hz, which corresponds to theta brainwave frequencies, subjects consistently report a relaxed, dreamy meditation state and a deep tranquility that is often punctuated with sparks of creativity. If the binaural beat is set between 8 to 12 Hz, the effect is more pronounced on the alpha frequency, which is the frequency the brain produces during wakeful relaxation, or daydreaming, with closed eyes. It is considered the ideal frequency to enhance cognitive processes such as learning and remembering as it is associated with increased concentration and alertness. It is the state which athletes often refer to as "being in the zone."So far, so gobbledy. But how does using this technology assist in guided meditation? The simplest way to prepare to use effectively the brainwave entrainment potential of binaural beats, is by the individual lying on a comfortable bed in a dark, quiet room. The darker and quieter the better, as the aim is to reduce external sensory stimulus to a bare minimum to allow the brain to turn inwards without the distraction of the senses. The use of an eye mask can also be helpful.Another method often employed, especially in experimental settings, is the use of a sealed flotation tank where the subject is suspended in a buoyant, skin temperature liquid within an isolated, sensory deprived environment.Once comfortable, the subject initiates the mp3 meditation and immerses themselves in the sound of the headphones. Depending on the frequency chosen and the accompaniment of the related "pink" sounds, which comprise music, natural sounds and a modified white hiss such as a television makes when the station it is tuned to stops transmitting, variable and predictable effects are caused within the conscious by the binaural beat. These include, but are not limited to: relaxation, enhanced creativity, intuition, deep meditation, enriched learning, improved sleep patterns, wellness and the personal exploration of altered states of conciousness. The onset of these effects using binaural beats is both swift and automatic. The subject does not have to try to attain deep meditation. The entrainment process of the beats causes a profound alteration in consciousness which can be used to tap into the immense creativity and problem solving abilities of the human brain. Guided meditation using binaural beats is focused on one particular frequency to cause a known, desired effect. The guided meditations can be used to enhance skills including, but not limited to: esp, creativity, lucid dreaming, memory, manifestation, prosperity, reduction of anxiety and wellness. The use of binaural beats in guided meditation can shortcut years of effort to attain a deep meditation state. One thing is certain, these beats will change your mind.Kindness is more important than wisdom.

Meditation - Calmness of Mind

I've decided that procrastination and avoidance are just tricks of the mind.Have you ever decided to do something, know it's a great idea and then done everything you could to avoid actually getting started? I'm sure you have and it doesn't seem to matter just exactly what it is you have set your mind to avoid, it has a way of catching up with you.I wanted to write about meditation, how it can be a really powerful force for good in your life and what benefits it may bring to you.So rather than get organised and create a plan of action with a sensible outline and approach, I picked up a gardening magazine and began to flick through it. And then on the second last page my inspiration lay in wait for me. It was a quote from James Allen, from his classic book "As A Man Thinketh".So of course I got on the net to find out a little bit more and there was a free e-book to download and such an array of resources related to this that I knew this was a great place for me to begin again. Here is the quote that caught my attention:"Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom... The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, and his power for good." Can you see why I was so inspired?Meditation is a wonderful pathway to 'calmness of mind', it's a perfect process, tool, way of being that can bring you such rich rewards for so little cost. It is indeed one the 'beautiful jewels of wisdom' of which James Allen speaks. So you know what happens next right? Forgetting that I was mid procrastination, I started to think about why we would think about meditation as a treasure in our lives. It didn't really take me very long to come up with quite a sizable list. I only had to look at my week and see the number of tasks, people, problems needing solutions and distances needing to be travelled to see that my need for a calm and tranquil space should be very high on my list of priorities.Well, it is of course.
I write a blog about it for goodness sake.
I attend a weekly meditation group in my local area and we sit in quiet companionship for an hour or so and it is wonderful.
I'm even looking to gain a certification to teach meditation (in the real world)So, obviously it's high in my consciousness but it wasn't always so. I've struggled to fit it into my day - even into my week at times - but as my relationship with meditation developed, as I began to see and feel it's many benefits it became easier and easier. As my friend and mentor Steve D'Annunzio once said to me: "You are a winner just because you show up every day"
This is such a wonderful concept because it means you don't have to judge either yourself or your meditation.
Just the fact that you sat quietly and created that calm and tranquil place for yourself means that you have been successful.
It doesn't matter if you were fidgetty, if the time you spent was short or long, if you fell asleep or kept thinking about the shopping - you win because you show up.So keep showing up, each and every day until your relationship with Meditation is strong and it powerful presence in your life is as natural as your breath.

Guided Meditation Mp3's - How Are Binaural Beats Used in Meditation

Are you interested in learning meditation fast? You probably already know about the nearly endless advantages of meditation. The objective of meditation is to unwind the brain, permit your mind to be at in complete state of peace and release yourself of all the things cluttering your thoughts. If you're like a lot of meditation rookie, seeing progress in meditation can be difficult. Often times people are discouraged from this lack of development and give up early on, but it is vital that you keep practicing. Since all people's learning styles are different, you should be aware of your own learning style and try to meet its needs. For auditory learners, you may be interested to know about a particular meditation technology known as binaural "beats" or special auditory frequencies which can be used to put your mind in an Alpha brain state, also known as the state of relaxation. These binaural beats are utilized in guided meditation mp3's and can allow your experience with meditation to reach new levels.Binaural beats aren't some sort of magic and they are not a fake technology, there is a real science behind exactly how they work and why. When you listen to binaural beats, there is an alignment of separate frequencies in your brain, thus easing your thoughts and body into an state of relaxation which opens your mind to a different kind of consciousness. The secret is to put on earphones, because this way the beats being played into each ear will induce the alignment of your brain waves. The way this works is that your brain will naturally synchronize itself to a frequency which is equal to the difference between each ear bud's rhythm. Since an Alpha brain state is between 8-12 hertz, listening to a binaural mp3 with a frequency of 110 hertz in one ear and 100 hertz in the other (a difference of 10 hertz) will induce an Alpha brain state at a frequency of 10 hertz. Personally, I would suggest using noise canceling headphones to ensure no outside sounds are interfering with the binaural beats. Therefore, if you were to attempt listening to binaural frequencies on regular speakers the frequencies will not be delivered to your brain correctly because your brain will not be able to differentiate which ear is receiving which frequency. With binaural frequencies humming on your ears the frustration is taken out of meditating because you no longer have to get yourself "in the zone" by natural means. This way, you can focus on whatever you need to meditate on, rather than wasting all your energy trying to reach the point of meditation. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and start meditating!

Guided Meditation

Guided meditation has its roots in western culture where it has traditionally been participated in by those interested in developing their psychic abilities and following a more spiritual way of life. In recent years this type of meditation has seen a surge in popularity and adoption by a more mainstream audience who have come to realise just how relaxing and enjoyable it can be.Whereas traditional meditation is about stilling every part of your being, guided meditation is about taking the listener on a visualized journey. They are perfect for the many people who struggle to quiet their thoughts and whose minds are forever racing in different directions. A Guided Meditation gives such people something to think about. Listening to a combination of a gentle voice and some soft background music helps to distract their normally over-active mind and they can soon slip into a state of gentle relaxation. This type of meditation is also particularly beneficial to those people suffering from stress. Being guided on a visualised journey can be a welcome distraction and temporary escape from their everyday woes. These journeys can take the listener to far away magical lands, or for those more experienced it can help them link to their Higher-self, their Spirit Guides and their Divine Creator. To get the most from a guided meditation it is best to prepare. Set aside some time when you know you will not be disturbed, switch off the phone and get comfy in your favourite chair or settled on your bed. An experienced guide will take you into quite a deep state of relaxation before bringing you back to reality gently, getting disturbed mid meditation can leave you a little disoriented. It is always a good idea to have a glass of water to hand as this can help to ground you after a meditation, to focus your attention and bring you back to the moment. Many guided meditations have been developed to help people with the more common afflictions of modern day living such as stress, worry and difficulty sleeping. More advanced meditations have been developed to help people cope with bereavement, to overcome addictions and even to ease and prepare the transition for those with a terminal illness. Other guided meditations are created purely to take you on a magical journey - how do you fancy visiting the lost city of Atlantis, exploring an Enchanted Castle, taking a Shamanic Journey or meeting your Guardian Angel. Experienced guides will prepare you for your journey and get you to a destination before leaving you for a time, this allows you to explore on your own and means that your journey will be different each time you use the meditation. With most things in life the more experienced you become with guided meditations the more you will get from them. Guided Meditation is a widely used method for developing the psychic and healing abilities in people and for providing a connection with our higher self and spirit guides.Whatever your reason for taking a guided meditation, be it simply for relaxation or for something altogether more spiritual you are sure to feel less stressed and more at peace afterwards.
